The doctor said my fiance have Pneumothorax??Please Help?
Her is what the doctor wrote:
have a pneumothorax(ruptured lung).The lung has leaked into the chest cavity.Pneumothorax can crop up from a mild chest injury,or even occur spontaneously in a perfectly clean person.
Your doctors evaluation shows that hospitalization is not necessary at this time.A follow -up exam is necessary,and will usually include a repeat chest x-ray.

Answers: Well did he have a chest injury? Or be it just random? If random, I dubt it will enlarge cause a chest tube. If it was from an injury then it just have to be monitored (aka repeat x-rays). Don't worry though Pneumothorax can only end up really seriously if it hasn't be found and treated. It would be bad if nobody found out he had it. With todays medicine they can treat it. A small pneumothorax may not require a chest tube for drainage. Repeat x-rays may be done to ensure that the pneumo is not enlarging and is resolving. If the pneumo enlarges a chest tube may involve to be inserted.
