Grapefruit is an endocrine disruptor... what the hell does that suggest??

Someone said to me that grapefruit is an endocrine disruptor but what the hell does that mean? lol i have no idea what the words connote. So someone explain simply and what is does effects, stuff like that. Thank you!!
Answers:     I estimate an endocrine disruptor blocks hormones. Well, they reduce the amount you get, they don't completely block hormones I don't think.
Don't listen to John Dude. Grapefruit appears in the P450 table. More specifically, it is an inhibitor to progesterone.
Only avoid Grapefruit if you are taking any form of progesterone (which NO ONE should EVER EVER take anyway) that goes for Depo-Provera, Yaz, Mirena, The Pill and the infamous scam, Bio-Identical Progesterone.
Yes basically it mimics the endogenous hormones, blocking and disrupts their normal function. Endocrine disruptor's pose a problem for teenagers, young-looking children, babies and pregnant women- as it can interferer with the developmental stages.

Apparently the grapefruit seed extract is an endocrine disruptor. Just make sure that you do not enjoy too many Source(s): Registered Nurse
It method that they act as artificial hormones and can potentially cause mood swings etc
