Throat tightening sensation. What could this be?
For the past 3 evenings I've had this tightening feeling surrounded by my throat. It sort of feels like someone is strangling me from the inside but it's not painful, purely uncomfortable. I'm fine all day long until nearly 8:00 or 9:00. I have no trouble breathing, no nausea, I can swallow just fine and am not constantly swallowing. I have no allergies and near is no family history of thyroid disease. I've never had anxiety or panic problems. And from the express google I did to see what it looks like, I'm pretty sure I don't have tonsillitis. I've done a bit of research, because I don't have vigour insurance and don't want to go to the doc if it's just nothing and will turn away on its own, but I can't seem to find any explanation that seems possible for me.
anyone had any experience next to this or knows what it could be? Are you a doctor that might have some insight? Any suggestions or info might help. Thank you so much!
Answers: I believe that the outlook of throat constriction can sometimes be associated with an anxiety or panic disorder.
people wwith anxiety or frenzy disorder can have symptoms that can be confused with medical illness. For example, inhabitants with chest pain occurring during a panic attack recurrently present to the emergency room thinking that they've just had a heart attack. I would assume that if your symptom responds to an anti-anxiety agent such as alprazolam (Xanax), stress may have something to do next to your symptom of throat constriction.
In addition to medication, counseling or stress reduction...is that a possibility?
