I woke up this morning to find myself coughing up small traces of blood why is this and should i be worried?

Answers: Coughing up blood is not a good sign. If you have be hacking and coughing for awhile you could have injured a small vessel. If not, call the doctor.
At the extremely least, it might be a nosebleed. At the very worst, it might be a serious lung problem. Either way (and anywhere surrounded by between), coughing up blood should be taken seriously, even though it may not be. It would probably be best if you, at the least, called your doctor to inform him/her of what's going on. If you're really worried, you can go to the ER or an Urgent Doctor's Care surrounded by your area.

It might be that you burst a blood vessel in your throat bit you should contact your doctor as it might be a bleed within the stomach.
You probably popped a small blood vessel.
But, if you're concerned, if it happen again, go to the doctor to be safe.
Because you are gonna die.

I would advise that you pop in your doctor for peace of mind, it could just be because you have a chest infection and youre coughing hard, or it coud be something more serious especially if you are a smoker or if you enjoy been travelling or in contact with ethnic group who may have certain infections e.g. TB or some other pneumonia
