What happen within a chest x-ray?

I have justbeen to the doctors and he thinks that I have asthma, but he have told me to have a chest x-ray just incase. I just required to know what exactly happens. Do you have to take your clothes of, and if you do, do they endow with you a gown to wear and does this gown show off your butt? Can I wear a t-shirt if I take my bra off underneath? What exactly are they looking for? thankyou =)
Answers:    You take your shirt off and wear a gown (or some doctors don't make you wear a gown if you aren't wearing a bra or jewelry)... you can move off your pants and shoes on so you don't have to worry in the region of them seeing too much of you.
take two pictures of your chest, one face forward and the other to the side. With both pictures they ask you to take a wide breathe and hold it for about 5 seconds.

I am not too familiar beside asthma but they are probably looking for excess mucus in your lungs.

surrounded by the same situation; I was sent for a chest x-ray 2 weeks ago to check for asthma. When I arrived at the x-ray department they asked me to change into a gown (there be changing rooms) then wait within a room full of people, also in gowns. You only inevitability to remove your upper clothing - you can keep your trousers/skirt on. You feel a bit silly but everyone else is the same so don't verbs :) I expected to have to remove the gown for the x-ray itself but that wasn't the case. I had to stand at a plate and rest my chin on it, appropriate a deep breath, then they took the x-ray from behind.

not sure exactly what they look for, but mine showed up "abnormalities" so it looks as though i do enjoy asthma.

I have one just last week (chest) where to stand up near your chest on a flat plate, on top of this you rest your chin and click - they simply take a photo.

I had a t-shirt on and didn't necessitate to take it off, you will probably have to remove your bra especially if it have metal on it but you could still keep on your shirt/blouse.
My x-rays are to look for tumours which is the form my Cancer came before but it give a load of information, they'll be looking at your lungs for dark for shaded areas to make sure they're clear.

I usually hold to wait 2 weeks for my results and it's absolutely no chew, in and out inside a few minutes and just like having your photo taken.
It really is no problem.
