Why can't I breathe at darkness?

I always have trouble breathing at night. I other take deep breaths out of habit in a minute because I'm trying to get a good breath but somehow I don't feel happy with the air. I get anxious and consistency like I'm going to run out of air at any minute. I had asthma when I be younger but now it's just not really a problem. I told the doctor and she just give me an inhaler but not even that helps. Is there any reason why this happen? I'm healthy and only 17. And also this mostly happens at hours of darkness.
Answers:     its cause you eat during dark time
certainty that you say this only happens at dark makes me think it could be allergies as some plants/flowers bloom or come out in hours of darkness air. See Doc and see if he can run some allergy tests for you, good luck.

PS- You also mentioned you draw from anxious.Could you have anxiety? Maybe check that out too.
sleep apnea? I don't know if that is how you spell it, but it is a condition when you stop breathing at night. I had it, get my tonsils out, and I am fine now. Ask your doctor to check your tonsils and see if they are too big, they may be getting in the way of your breathing
Do you lie on your back, stomach, or side? Try sleeping on your back using two pillows so your upper body is slightly elevated. When you grasp anxious, it might cause you to hyperventilate (take short, shallow breaths). The remedy for that is to breathe into a paper daypack until you feel calm - just cover your antenna and mouth with a paper lunch bag and steal slow, calm breaths.
doesn't sound like sleep apnea. In standard, middle-aged men with big bellies suffer from that disorder.

Maybe you're allergic to something? Depending upon where you live, allergies could cause a reaction of breathlessness.
