Smoked weed and very soon I can't stop coughing?

The other day I smoked weed with a friend and then shortly afterward I lost my voice and started coughing profoundly. It's been two days and I still don't have a voice, plus I think the coughing have actually gotten worse. Does anyone know why this happened and how long it'll take for the coughing to budge away??
Answers:     You must be smoking the cheap stuff. Try a chalice of water & gargle.
how long did you puff? im assuming that was your frst time. Start lightly at first. Unless you had some mixed up weed. Then resourcefully its prolly in the weed
Have you smoked since? The body's natural reaction to particulates (which are in the smoke) is to cough. However, that sensitivity should stop once the irritant is gone, and I can't imagine that it would still be there after two days. Was it really sticky? Maybe it is sticking so the coughing won't get rid of it. It is possible that you are allergic, approaching someone else said, it is rare but it happens. That type of allergy is called delayed-type hypersensitivity, so the hypersensitivity does not happen the first time you encounter the allergen. The body has to be sensitized to it (basically, the body has to realize that it doesn't approaching it), and then the reaction occurs the subsequent time the allergen is encountered. So, the allergic reaction can happen the second time you smoke, or any time after, but once you experience the spontaneous effect you will likely have the same response every time you smoke.
insecure to say this, but you can take a cough suppressant. Anything with dextromethorphan surrounded by it (Robitussin DM, Delsym, etc) will work. The reason I am hesitant is because if by chance something is still stuck contained by your lungs, by suppressing the cough your body won't be able to get it out and it could cause an infection. At duplicate time, if you had something stuck to your lungs for two days and your body still wasn't able to get it out you would probably own signs of an infection by now (pneumonia symptoms).

So use your best judgment, and if you think at hand is no risk of infection, go ahead and use the cough syrup for a couple days and then see if it goes away.

One more thought...do you believe that it is possible that you are just sick? Maybe you have a cough from a virus and the symptoms happened to show up not long after you smoked. If to be exact the case, definitely go obtain the cough syrup.
You may be allergic to marijuana. It's rare, but it happens.
