6 week infirm son and his grandmother have MRSA...?
I had my son 6 weeks ago and his grandmother hasn't seen him since we were surrounded by the hospital. She misses him and wants us to visit today, but she's had MRSA for 3 years.. I guess it's not treatable for her. She said it's surrounded by her blood and the only way anyone could get it from her is if her blood be to come in contact with his. This isn't true, right? I heard it's extremely contagious and I'm sure my son's immune system isn't the greatest right in a minute. She seems healthy to me, so I am not even sure if she really has it or not, but she say she does, so I'll take her word for it. (She's an attention seeker.)
ld I keep him away from her? He have no open sores or anything.. Is he ok to see her? I feel very discouraging keeping him away from her, but I don't want to risk him getting sick and possibly dying just to visit. She said she will have it the rest of her life span.
Answers: This is a tough question!
MRSA can be contracted by skin to skin contact and also from objects that might have the bacteria on them.
Towels, for instance.
e on the locked side - I would contact your pediatrician or your son's doctor and ask him or her if seeing his grandmother would be a bad risk.
Maybe you will get better feedback than what I can give you( from other answers.)
Again, to be on the not dangerous side and to allevaite your fears, I would contact your son's doctor and ask his or her opinion.
She is a CARRIER for MRSA. It DOESN'T MEAN SHE HAS IT! As long as he isn't sick or have open wounds, consequently he will be fine. You can be a carrier for it, but not have it. Source(s): I was a holder of VRE for 4 years. Never once passed it on and it is A LOT worse then MRSA.
