My mom have acute respiratory distress and is on a ventilator. What are the option after this?
my mom went into cardiac arrest and was put on a ventilator. She was diagnosed near acute respiratory distress. i was wondering what are the possible options if she is not able to breath minus it.
Answers: I've been in the same situation myself ( 5x on the vent) and I would right to be heard that Sally is right. If I can get placed on the vent several times and was able to come stale it then why not your moyjer? Just being there for her will sustain her out alot. Good luck.
There are many factors that determine what the next steps for your mother's attention involve. If she is awake and responsive, which I hope is the case, they will try to wean her off the ventilator. If unable to obtain the breathing tube out they may suggest a tracheostomy , which could make it easier to wean from the ventilator. If unable she may be on a ventilator for a long time. There are long term ventilator services where these patients go or some do well near home ventilators. A lot depends on the extent of you mother's illness and how well she recovers. There is other HOPE ! I wish her well.
