How do I lung capicity?
I have asthma but I am trying to increase my lung capicity. Does anyone know how I could do this?
Answers: Gentle exercise.
ke massage- getting the muscles relaxed around my rib cage makes me cough (sometimes like mad!) and then take deeper breaths.
Many people stipulation to take a dose of their rescue inhaler before exercise.
In my opinion, it is much better to whip a puff or two and then exercise to build up your wind, than to avoid exercise and remain unable to open breathe.
Drink water just before you exercise- it help thin your mucus and cough it out.
swimming is great do alot of holding your breath it is great exercise for your lungs or just practice how long you can hold your breath you will observe it will get longer and longer. also any cardio you can do make sure you have your inhaler next to you and take it before you start once you get your blood pumping and your heart rate up this is also great for your lungs. (sometimes you might own to work thru a little bit of tense lungs since you have asthma Im guessing you know what I mean)
First and foremost, you have to have your asthma beneath control. Know your triggers and avoid them. Take your medication as prescribed by your doctor. If you are using your rescue inhaler (like albuterol or provental) two time per week or more then your asthma is not in control.
Check your peak flows every morning and see if you are int he green zone. If not follow your asthma action plan to tell you what to do.
Now increasing your lung dimensions isn't easy. You can increase your endurance and do more with smaller amount shortness of breath. The other answers are correct, exercise is good for making your lungs and heart stronger. It doesn't have to be a marathon. It can be walking 30 minutes at a time three days per week.
can acquire an incentive spirometer. It is a lung exercise machine that will help you increase the volume of air surrounded by and out of your lungs. You must do it at least 10 breathes each time you do the exercise for it to be effective.
