Hiv screening at pregnancy?
I went to my first prenatal checkup which included , of course, a series of blood tests. In Florida, you enjoy an Opt-out for testing for sexually transmitted diseases, Clamydia, Ghonnerea, HIV etc... I took the tests on June 21, can I assume, if the tests have come back positive, my doctor would have contacted me to come in for consultation and preventative measures for the toddler, myself and partner? I have another apppointment next week. I have no explanation to feel as if they would have come back positive, in recent times an additional worry during an exciting and nerve racking time.
surely would NOT wait till my next stop by to discuss the situation, am i correct? its been over 3 weeks.

I just heard a documentary that disappointingly, doctor's offices do NOT always inform a patient when a experiment result has come back with a less-than-desirable result. I would noticeably call your doctor's office to get peace-of-mind. Never assume anything when it comes to your strength.
If your test came backbone positive they legally have to tell you as soon as they know. You also hold to legally tell everyone that you have have any kind of sexual contact with. So, they can't just dally to tell you if you are positive.
I deem you are safe in assuming that the tests be all normal. Source(s): RN
If the results came back positive, they would call you right away so you can walk in and talk to the dr. Im sure you're fine! Good luck and congratulations on the baby.
Ideally they would notify you right away, but I know of cases where they forgot and a bad result of a lab interview late in pregnancy wasn't learned until the tot was born. (This is rare -- the case immediately involves a medical malpractice claim.)
Just call the doctor's nurse and ask if they can confirm the results over the phone. The worst they can say is no.
ou believe you may have be exposed to a STD or HIV, please emphasize that to your doctor so they can take measures to give your toddler the best possible start in life. Also, if you or your partner is engaged within any risky behaviors like drug use involving needles (and forgive me if I am insulting you with the very thought), please stop any risky behaviors presently for the sake of yourselves and your child or children. You are going to be a parent soon if you are not already. It is a whole different world when you are responsible for another precious life. Best of luck to you.
