HIV test- can it be detected contained by a CBC?

I'm worried about a sex partner I had a few years ago. I have no symptoms, but I've hear that HIV can take years to show up. I recently was tested for anemia and several other things. My doctor did a Complete Blood Count.
The HIV virus attacks a very specific group of white blood cells called T-cells. If you received a CBC and the results stated you have a low WBC count, there would be further investigation as to what caused it. Hope this helped! Source(s): I'm a nurse.
The only way to find out if you enjoy HIV is to get an HIV test. It can not be diagnosed any other way, and because it requires the written consent of the human being being tested, HIV testing is not done automatically when other testing is done. You want to ask for an HIV test. It may take years for symptoms to show up, but more than 98% of people who hold HIV will test positive within 3 months. In extremely rare cases, it could transport up to 6 months for someone to test positive. If your last possible exposure was more than 6 months ago, trialling now would give an accurate result.

Edit: Re: the above response: Although white blood cell count will become low at some point in population who have HIV, this reduction in white blood cell count may lift several years to occur. Source(s): I do HIV education and testing.
No a CBC cannot show whether or not your hold HIV. There are specific tests for HIV.
it is not a test, it is a drug. The previous post is clearly spam)
HIV conducting tests is a very specific test. When a person experiment for HIV there is a 3 month window period. HIV usually will show up 90% of th time next to in 30 days. HIV does not "hide" in a person's body, but if a person does not question paper there often are NO sign that they have be infected. And no your doctor did not do a HIV test without your knowledge.

Good Luck
