Another cross-examine around hiv/aids?
Okay can a hiv test still be effective if you get it done a few days after you've have unprotected sex. And if it dosent can the blood test detect abnormalities??
Answers: you have to wait at most minuscule 2 weeks to a month to get tested or the hiv test wont be accurate
A PCR analysis can detect HIV infection 24 hours after mortal infected. This is a useful test when you are involved in a large risk situation because then it can be determined whether or not PEP should be prescribed. PEP is effective up to 72 hours after exposure. So if you have have a known exposure, you should consider taking PEP to prevent HIV infection. However, a traditional Elisa or Western blot test cannot detect the antibodies until about 2 weeks after infection, and at that time 50% of general public will test positive.
Testing a few days after possible exposure is too soon. The standard recommendation is to seize tested 3 months after possible exposure, and get retested 6 months after possible exposure. It takes some time for the antibodies to HIV, which the test is designed to detect, build up plenty to be detectable in the testing. More than 98% of people who own HIV would test positive within 3 months after getting infected. In very special cases, it could take up to 6 months for someone to test positive.
Re: abnormalities surrounded by blood: The only way to find out if you have HIV is to catch an HIV test. It can not be diagnosed by symptoms or by any other testing, as there may be no symptoms for years, and no transform in blood count anytime soon after infection. HIV can not be diagnosed by "abnormalities" in the blood, because there are not probable to be any abnormalities for a long time. Source(s): I do HIV education and testing.
When I be younger, I was told that HIV would appear in your blood within 3 months of contracting it. I used to find tested every 3 months just to be safe. So try to wait at smallest 3 months. And always use a condom.
When i went to get checked for hiv the female told me u should wait 3 months for it to show. what she did was take my blood through my finger and wait for my results. so that would be the blood test. but hiv will not show in your blood till at least three months after intercourse...
