Gynecologists?! Doctors!?! Genital Warts!?!?

I typically (or maybe always) ask questions about my HPV. That's roughly the only reason I signed up for yahoo in the first place. Most other question I feel comfortable asking other people. That being said, I enjoy a question for those who are educated on the virus. I mean to say aloud, I am hoping there are gynecologists or doctors out there who can give my quiz a go. I know my chances of receiving a response from someone surrounded by those fields is next to none, but I'm giving it a shot nonetheless!
e who know about my STD (very, exceedingly few) thinks it's a good idea if I enlighten my previous partners about them. I've only be sexually active with two people, so it must be one of them....UNLESS I could hold gotten my STD from somewhere else. And this is where I ask a question that may come off as incredibly stupid (but I feel is legit, seeing as HPV is a hardy virus and lives quite a while outside of the body). Here's my question: Could I get HPV from dropping a tablet of soap on the floor of a co-ed hostel shower stall and then rubbing that bar of soap on my labia? (yes, you aren't supposed to do that, but I wasn't "in the know"). If so, afterwards I suppose I could have gotten the virus from there, which would be absolutely a scream and pathetic. Serious answers please! Thanks!
Answers:    Wow you seem to be more educated roughly speaking HPV than most! I am not a doctor, but I did have cervical cancer. I swear I know more about this than most gynos! (Seriously, next time you are at the gyno's organization, ask her which strain of HPV is most likely to cause adenocarinoma. I doubt she will know. My first gyno told me adenocarcinoma was not even cause by HPV! It's 18, btw.) I went through 4 doctors before ending up at Johns Hopkins next to a wonderful woman who actually knows more than me.

I personally did NOT share my previous partners, because what the heck are they going to do? Get tested? It's not available to men. Sure, they could tell their future partner, but would they? And even if they did, telling your future partner, "I might be able to tender you HPV" is the exact same as saying, "I have had sex beforehand." As you know from your own experience, HPV really is that common. Most women get it just as soon as they start have sex.

Sadly, as there is no available, reliable test for men, and condoms do not tender protection, HPV is just a life risk that we women face. I focus the way our society treats HPV is completely sexist. Can you imagine if the virus caused men to find 5% of men to get pieces of their penises removed? There would be outrage! But since it's women who get pieces of their cervixes removed, it's commonly done and the world treats it like it's no big operation!

Good luck, and feel free to contact me if you have any more HPV questions!)
