How accurate are hiv test if you keep on a month?
i took a rapid hiv test with blood. it come up negative. but i only waited a month similar to 30 28 ish days. how accurate on a scale of 1-10?
Answers: Rapid HIV tests are accurate outside of the window testing time of year.
need to retest at 3 months and at 6 months. Most people will make adequate antibodies to detect by 3 months and all by 6.
Not sure on what extent of accuracy it would be. But what they say is to wait at least possible 3 months. The virus could be laying dormant in your system and you can continue to assessment negative for it even if you really have it if you test since 3 months.
The test's accuracy is the same. It is the lenient that is different:
If 100 people are infected with HIV today:
75% will assessment positive by 17-20 days
99.5% will test positive by 3 months
(the other fraction of a percent are people who are already seriously in poor health with a weakened immune system, eg. undergoing chemo/radiation, taking transplant anti-rejection drugs, etc...these associates may take up to 6 months to test positive.....but you would know if this was you!)
So, you MUST retest 3 months post exposure, but more than 75% of relations would have tested positive by 1 month if they were infected.
