Anyone living next to HIV/AIDS?

I would like to know what your symptoms were before you know that you were infected, and how long did you have the virus before you know about it? I have read so many different things, but would resembling to hear testimonials based on actual life experience.
Answers:    That's an interesting one for me because I don't remember having any symptoms at adjectives. My late boyfriend (heterosexual) was diagnosed with AIDS surrounded by 1988. I am middle-class female (heterosexual) and we were in a monogamous relationship. After much thought I finally approved to get tested 6 weeks later and I also tested positive. We had gotten together contained by 1985 so I believe that's when I got infected...so about 3 years. He died in 1991, and here it is 2009 and I am still alive, gratefulness to the miracles of modern medicine. When I look back before he get ill and we found out he had AIDS (not just HIV) I do take back times of him being very, very tired and falling asleep at the drop of a headdress but otherwise he was very active, outgoing, the vivacity of the party and always energetic. But I would guess that to be in the region of 6-8 months before he got ill. As for me the 3 years prior to carrying out tests positive I just don't remember any illness out of the usual for me. I had also hear stories of people knowing when they sero-convert but I don't.
I live a very healthy vivacity, the medicines suit me well so I am fortunate there that I don't hold any weird side effects. I never have!
But I have have pneumonia/pcp, the kind associated with having HIV/AIDS twice....and that be when my t-cells dropped below 200, but that was the only OI (opportunistic infection) I have have, thank God!

Now as a female that is getting older (I be 31 when I was diagnosed) there may possibly be other issues dealing with women and HIV/AIDS
I hope this help you see a perspective from someone living with this daily since 1988 :-)
I am living with HIV. I hold been positive for three years now and I was infected for two years until that time I was diagnosed.

I had no noticeable symptoms when mine be discovered. HIV is asymptomatic for the first ten years or so (if left untreated). It means that you will not have any symptoms until your immune system become depleted and this takes about ten years on average.
the immune system weakens, you will get going to have recurrent infections such as thrush (white fungal coating on the tongue and inside of the mouth) and pneumonia.
